A FORUM FOR ASIA INVESTORS TO COLLABORATE ON CLIMATE CHANGE
RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES
The Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC) is being established by ASrIA with support from financial institutions across the region. ASrIA will serve as secretariat to the forum, and report to a Strategic Advisory Committee drawn from the asset owners involved.
While organisations similar to AIGCC exist elsewhere there has been no permanent facility for investors in the region. Asia is already affected by climate change and the impacts are forecast to become more severe.
AIGCC aims to help investors in Asia understand and take appropriate action on the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. Asset owners joining the group will benefit from some of the best analytical minds applied to Asia-specific research as well as insights from the global network of investor initiatives focussed on climate change.
The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) provided seed funding for the AIGCC as it believes that tackling climate change is essential to the security and prosperity of Asia. The FCO works through its network of posts across the globe to promote international action on climate change. The FCO is supporting the AIGCC to facilitate local capacity building and engage in policy dialogue in Asia.
